5% Cash Back on Gas With the Discover More Card

Written by admin - One Comment

I’ve written elsewhere about the best cash back credit cards for gas rebates, but I just wanted to highlight the current offer from the Discover More card. As you may or may not be aware, Discover More offers 5% cash back on a different set of “bonus” categories every three months. The 5% bonus class just changed on July 1st, and…

For the period of July 1 – Sept 30, 2008 the 5% categories are gas and hotels.

And after that, the 5% rewards will switch over to grocery stores, restaurants and movies. Unfortunately, the 5% rewards are capped at $400 in eligible purchases per reward period. All other purchases will receive up to 1% unlimited cash back. Given this limitation, I’m still partial to the Blue Cash Rewards Card from AmEx, but the Discover More card isn’t a bad alternative, especially if you’re not a big spender.

Comments (scroll down to add your own):

  1. Before getting the SimplyCash this month in the mail, I was using the More for gas purchases while waiting. Dandy little card for the small spender like me.
