AmEx Blue Cash Rewards Card: Up to 5% Cash Back

Written by admin - 3 Comments

Are you in the market for a cash back reward credit card? If so, I highly recommend Blue Cash from AmEx. This card offers one of the most generous reward programs out there, and there’s no annual fee. For the first $6,500 in annual expenditures, you’ll receive 1% on “everyday” purchases (gas, groceries, and drugstore purchases) and 0.5% on all else.

But… After you hit the $6,500 threshold, the rewards kick up to 5% on “everyday” purchases and 1.5% on all else. This means you’ll save $0.15 on every gallon of gas, get 5% off your entire grocery bill, and even save 5% when you’re sick! And the 1.5% on “other” purchases is half again as much as what most reward cards offer. Best of all, there’s no limit on the amount of rewards that you can earn.

I recently converted my old American Express Optima to a Blue Cash Rewards Card and couldn’t be happier. It’s definitely worth checking out.

  1. So any category I choose (paying a bill ect.) will give 5% back once I reach $6500?

  2. No. “Everyday” purchases are defined as those made at gas stations, grocery stores, and drug stores. Everything else gets the base 1.5% rate. But 5% off on $4 gas is $0.20/gallon, and a 5% discount on all of your groceries is also nice.
